Off2Goo

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 26, 2026

Off2Goo is a Windows program that sends the Office file you double-click to your own Google Drive and opens it in Google’s editor. This policy explains what information Off2Goo and this website handle, and what they do not.

In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Brian A. Ask, the maker of Off2Goo. You can reach us at brian@brianaask.com.

The short version

  • Your files go from your PC to your own Google Drive. We do not receive, store, or read them.
  • Your Google sign-in is saved on your computer, not on our servers.
  • We collect only what we need to sell you the program: your email address and payment confirmation.
  • We do not sell your information. We do not show ads in Off2Goo.
  • Files you upload are set so that anyone with the link can edit them. Please read the section on sharing below.

Information we collect

When you buy Off2Goo

When you pay $4.99 on our website, our payment processor, Payhip, collects your payment details and your email address. We do not see or store your full card number. We receive your email address, the time and amount of the purchase, and confirmation that the payment went through.

We use your email address to send your receipt and your download link, so you can download Off2Goo again later. We may also use it to answer support requests you send us.

On this website

This website includes a Google tag so we can measure visits that come from ads. Google may set a cookie for that measurement. Our host, Vercel, may log basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit, to keep the site running and secure. The site also uses Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page visits without advertising cookies and without identifying you across other sites. Checkout happens on Payhip, which uses its own cookies and privacy policy.

When you use the Off2Goo program

The program runs on your PC. When you sign in with Google, Off2Goo asks Google for permission to create and open files in your Google Drive. Off2Goo stores the resulting sign-in token on your computer so you do not have to sign in each time you open a file.

When you double-click an Office file, Off2Goo uploads that file directly from your PC to a folder named Off2Goo in your Google Drive, and then opens it in your browser. Off2Goo does not send your files, file names, Google sign-in, or Drive contents to our servers, and it does not collect usage data or crash reports.

How Off2Goo uses Google account data

Off2Goo’s use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically:

  • Off2Goo uses your Google account access only to upload the file you chose to your Drive, set its sharing, and open it for editing.
  • We do not use Google user data for advertising, and we do not sell it.
  • We do not transfer Google user data to others, except as needed to provide the features you asked for, to comply with law, or as part of a merger or sale of the business with notice to you.
  • No person at our company reads your Google data.

Your files and sharing

Uploaded files go into your Google Drive and count toward your Drive storage. They are governed by your agreement with Google and by Google’s privacy policy.

Important: Off2Goo sets each uploaded file so that anyone who has the link can edit it. This is how your browser opens the file ready to edit. The file stays in your Drive, but anyone who obtains the link can view and change it. Do not share the link with people you do not want editing the file. You can change a file’s sharing settings at any time in Google Drive, and you can delete the Off2Goo folder or any file in it whenever you like.

Because of this setting, we recommend you do not use Off2Goo for files that contain highly sensitive information.

Who we share information with

We share information only with the service providers that help us operate:

  • Payhip, to process your payment and email your receipt and download link.
  • Vercel, to host this website.
  • Google, to measure visits that come from ads.

These providers may use your information only to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, safety, or the rights and safety of others.

Google and Microsoft are separate companies. Google handles your Drive files and your Google account under its own terms and privacy policy. Microsoft makes Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Off2Goo is an independent program and is not affiliated with or endorsed by either company.

How long we keep information

We keep purchase records, including your email address, for as long as needed to provide your download link, handle support and refund requests, and meet tax and accounting obligations. That is typically seven years for records the law requires us to keep. Website logs are kept only as long as our hosting provider retains them for security and operations.

Information stored on your own PC, including your Google sign-in, stays there until you remove it. Uninstalling Off2Goo or revoking its access in your Google account (see below) ends its ability to use your Drive.

Your choices and rights

  • Revoke access. You can remove Off2Goo’s access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
  • Delete your files. You can delete any file or the Off2Goo folder from your Google Drive.
  • Access or delete your data. You can ask us what purchase information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing brian@brianaask.com. We will respond within a reasonable time and in line with applicable law.
  • Unsubscribe. We send only transactional email about your purchase. We do not send marketing email unless you ask us to.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act, including rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise them, contact us at the address above. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect the information we hold. Payments are handled by our payment processor. Your Google sign-in is stored on your own computer, so keeping your PC and Windows account secure helps protect it. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

Off2Goo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will make that clear on this page or by email.
